General Principles

Our Spiritual North

“My heart can take on any form:
A meadow for gazelles,
A cloister for monks,
For the idols, sacred ground,
Ka’ba for the circling pilgrim,
The tables of the Torah,
The scrolls of the Quran.

My creed is Love;
Wherever its caravan turns along the way,
That is my belief,
My faith.”

—Ibn Arabi, a Sufi Mystic

Since we took this creed of Love, we take as our first responsibility to respect the right of every creature -human and non-human- to live a decent life.  It requires that we are interested and willing to learn and know these rights. This is genuine love, rooted in knowledge and actions.

The Way of Implacable Lucidity*: Principles

  1. We recognize our spiritual nature, the Unity of all, and the Essential Oneness.
  2. As we are called to act as the One’s representatives and stewards to the entire creation, we have the duty to protect the planet and all living creatures.
  3. We recognize that we are extremely valuable and that every human being is as well is extremely valuable irrespective of gender, social class, or ethnic origin.
  4. As recipients of the One’s infinite Mercy and Generosity, we are called to actualize every quality given to us and treat every human being and living creature according to its rights.
  5. We recognize that every point of view has a different degree of truth.
  6. We can develop our capacities to read the signs of the One in the revealed scriptures, in the cosmos and in ourselves.
  7. We recognize our capacity for discernment and higher intuitive knowledge.
  8. Questioning beliefs is encouraged so truth and kindness can replace any prejudice, assumption, and habit of mind.
  9. We can learn to develop authentic freedom through awareness of our desires and fears.
  10. We must strive to become decent human beings and develop the gifts of rendering justice and peacemaking by holding to the Truth
