First Tuesday of the month: Meditation

Our meditation, called “Presencing,”  is a form of mindfulness mediation. It is designed to increase your self-awareness in daily life, and develop your intuitive power. It uses Jung’s ground-breaking work on the four functions: thinking, feeling, sensing, and intuition.

The first stage is an awareness continuum, the second stage brings us to be open to the Imaginal realm, the third stage is the stage of being present to “what is” in our life. It comes to the reunification of the witnessing stance with our active presence in the world

This meditation is non-denominational, very practical while being very open, with lasting effects.

New participants receive a description of the practice followed by the practice itself and a reflection.

Second Tuesday of the month: Writing with Yunus Emre

Together we listen to Yunus Emre expressing his longing and quest for Truth. By responding in writing to his poems and sharing with our spiritual companions we fully participate to his seeking and finding of the One Reality.

Third Tuesday of the month: The four pillars of spiritual transformation

Reflection on the Traitrise by Ibn Arabi.

Fourth Tuesday of the month: Heart, Self and Soul

Reflection on the book by Robert Frager. Sharing of the ideas and insights brought by the stories and the practices described  in the book

(when) Fifth Tuesday: Reflection on movies

Before Rumi met Shams, he was a lecturer. As he was going through a spiritual transformation, he started to recite poetry. When people were complimenting his poetry, he said that his poetry was like “tripe”. Tripe are both something disgusting when they are full of you-know-what, and delicious to eat when they are washed and prepared with tomatoes and spices. (Even if it is not a common delicacy in our culture) He added: “people like tripe, so I give them tripe.”

That was in the 12th century. Now we are living in a civilization of images (and movies and videos) which are everywhere: Facebook, Instagram, selfies in different places, Netflix series, movies).  So, we decided to use the medium of our time: images in different formats.

We use movies to become aware of our “whoness” which is more than our little idiosyncrasies.   When Martin is “Martining” and Helen is “Helening,”* and so on, we see and recognize the Light in their Heart. The Light flows from one being to another being, participating in the Beingness of The One.  The movie is the opportunity to become aware. It is one of the vehicles we can use to “know ourselves so we can know our Lord”

Our choice of movies is only determined by the power of evocation of a large spectrum of different responses. They bring a knowledge which is self-reflective, not informative. When we are open to the images as iconic doorways they give us more self-knowledge, and brings up all the splendor of our human nature.

Contemplative Reading

“I wish I could show you when you are lonely or in darkness the astonishing light of your own being.” Hafiz

Contemplative reading is essential to the quest for self-knowledge and  wisdom. Rational knowing involves calculation, explanation, analysis. and logical deduction.  However contemplative reading requires not just some skills but a different approach to the texts.  It affects students’ characters, their philosophy of life, and capacities for deep intuitive knowledge.

During our sessions, we don’t worry about  performance. The companionship of other students helps everyone to feel welcome. Participants see that any response to the texts is valid in itself, and contributes to everyone’s self-knowledge.

The mystical texts, facilitate an opening within and the emergence of creative breakthroughs, shared joy and compassion for each other and the world at large.

All the groups are on line via Zoom

Present groups: Participants have chosen the mystical text and  the time to meet. Please send us an email if you wish to attend.

Group D Spiritual Ecology

In our ecological studies we alternate between the contemplative reading of mystical writings and texts on deep ecology, the reflection on documentaries, the practice of writing about our relationships to our human and natural environment, and the experience of practices in nature.

We support each other in being ecological friendly in all aspects of our life. Through meditation, reflection, and support from our spiritual friends, we strive to develop awareness of our use of natural resources and contribution to carbon emissions, other pollutants, and waste.  Together we learn to recognize and develop our reverence for life,

If you wish to study a mystical text you love with a small group, please send us an email  to share your interest and availiability
